Broadway in Spanish: Experience New York with Omar Dileon
At Gran Apple Tours, we love helping visitors discover the stories behind New York’s most recognizable places. With Omar Dileon, those stories often come with a connection to theater, music, and the artists who have made this city their home.
Omar, as a guide and a musical theater performer, gets to bring people to the city. He trained at AMDA in New York, Spain, Mexico and Argentina, performed in theatrical and music productions in these countries, and has developed concerts and cabarets of his own. He brings that experience to the way he welcomes Spanish-speaking visitors: when Omar talks about Broadway, he can share an artist’s perspective on what happens inside and beyond the theaters.
On tours focused on movies and musicals, he makes the performing arts approachable for first-time theatergoers and lifelong Broadway fans alike. His energy as a performer can turn a reference to a show into a sung moment or a few dance steps. These moments invite guests to experience the city, as well as learn about it.
We have also collaborated with Omar on cabaret experiences. The weekly cabaret Esto es broadway, where he brings musical theater songs to spanish so tourists can experience the magic of musical theater. Bringing his work as a performer and guide together has given to more than 5,000 travelers another way to connect with New York’s artistic life.
Omar reminds us that there is no single way to discover this city. He sings to them, dances to them, making him a great storyteller.
